Are you ready?

From Matthew 1, we see familiar names in the genealogy of Jesus: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who later became Israel.

Temi reminded us of God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 17:6
“I will make you exceeding fruitful, I will make nations of you and KINGS SHALL COME FROM YOU

The King (Jesus) came from Abraham’s lineage. We often talk about David being a part of Jesus’ lineage but do we realize that it’s Father Abraham’s lineage as well?

We also see names like Rahab, Tamar, Ruth and Bathsheba. God wasn’t ashamed to be associated with these women. What is your sin that keeps you running?

Further down, from verses 18-25, we read about the birth of Jesus the Messiah.

Before Joseph married Mary, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, a righteous man who got into a ‘news-worthy’ dilemma at that time: his fiancée was found pregnant! In those days, it was a great risk, because the law demanded that she be stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21)

Joseph was sensitive to the Spirit and immediately obeyed the instructions he was given by an angel in a dream. To top it, He did not have sexual relations with her until Jesus was born – that just screams patience and self-control. It was definitely the fruit of the Spirit at work in Joseph’s life.

Let the ladies say/shout “Lord! Give me a Joseph!” 😀

The story of the birth of Jesus shows us that God doesn’t do ‘usual’. @Eloxie shared a big lesson: “That it hadn’t happened before didn’t stop God. He had a purpose to fulfill and He is the Master of the Unusual.”

On Matthew 2:1-12, @Jiokemad and @EziahaA were quick to point out that contrary to popular misconception, the number of wise men weren’t specified as three, we only know that they brought three gifts, the number could be anywhere from 2 -100!

@Ete_Ubom prayed for us “When the time comes, that same star that guided the wise men to Jesus in Bethlehem will guide your destiny helpers to you.”

AMEN!

We come across “This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet” over and over in Matthew 2. God always fulfills His prophecies. Family, has God spoken? It will surely be fulfilled. Receive grace to keep believing.

Please deposit Matthew 1:21 into the memory bank:

And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

JESUS = SAVIOR = THE DELIVERER.

Stay #FRESH, #CHAP and #ALIVE!
