My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to what I say. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart. Proverbs 4:20-21(NLT)
The beginning of wisdom is this: get wisdom, and whatever you do, get insight. Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing. It is principal in decision making. When we make wise decisions, it makes situations easier to handle. If we live our lives with the wisdom of God, we discover that things fall into place for us in pleasant places(vs 8-9).
Wisdom is principal in human relations, knowing the best ways to relate with people, how to control emotions and how to handle conflicts – most wars and grudges between people and nations could have been avoided if properly handled.
Wisdom is principal for resource management. If the leaders of Nigeria employed wisdom in their affairs, Nigeria would be a great nation. The nation is richly blessed with minerals and resources. But mismanagement of funds has left a large percentage of the populace needy. Even the masses often lack wisdom to maximize the few resources made available by the government, leading to depreciation of most amenities.
Wisdom doesn’t just come when we need it. We need to have filled our hearts with wisdom, sticking closely to the source of wisdom, God – through his word. Constantly keeping our heart and ears open to His leading so He may be our guide at all time and so his wisdom may not depart from us.
Prayer Focus:
Dear Lord, help me to be close to you, my source of wisdom, that I may always do and say the right things to make my life’s journey and the world at large a better place.
