READ #LAProverbs Devotional Day 3 by Bimpe Ajibade

THE FEAR OF GOD

image

The message translation reads, ‘Do not assume you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom therefore a man, who doesn’t fear God, is unwise, or worse, wise in his own eyes. Wisdom, in the context of the scripture, is not the world’s definition. Our God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise!

‘preserve sound judgement and discernment’ Prov 3:21a

The world’s wisdom tells us to work hard and trust that our hard work would pay off. The Lord’s wisdom encourages us to work hard but put our trust in God. The world cannot understand our trust in a God we can’t see or feel. Our faith proves the world to be wrong. We can see our God, we can feel him. We can believe in him because he is real. His word is true and he speaks to us. So although the world can’t understand this, we can because we have learned and are still learning to trust Him.

We fear Him when we trust in Him and that fear, keeps us doing right by Him. Fleeing from all appearances of evil simply because He cannot behold evil. Therefore the way to maintain our trust in him is to develop sound judgement and discernment. These are vital tools to keep us in check, we should always preserve these in our hearts.

Prayer Focus
Heavenly Father, we ask for the grace to remain well grounded in You and true to You,  in Jesus’ name, Amen.
