SELF TEST

Text: “Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing proper fruits of it” 2 Corinthians 13:5 (Amplified)

Although difficult, self-evaluation is of immense value because it helps to know one’s true status at a given time. In the scripture above, Paul admonishes us to evaluate and test ourselves; if we are still in faith. There are so many “happenings” around us, the pressures to fit into society. And it is very easy to become unproductive for the Master. To avoid this, we are encouraged to assess our faith and be sure what we believe is genuine. The yardstick for this appraisal is the fruit produce. Jesus told us, “by their fruits, they shall be known” (Mt. 7: 16).

The fruit we exhibit can only authenticate our belief in Christ. Are we gentle, joyful, peaceful? Do we flare up at every provocation? Are we kind as the Father we claim to love is? Do we love people genuinely? Do we have any self-control or do we live by impulse? (Galatians 5: 22-23)

Let us remember as we go about our activities that we not merely tell people who we are, moreover it is about acting out who we are in Christ, through our actions.

Show someone that your faith is not a counterfeit by what you do.

LEARN and APPLY: God wants to place me higher than my peers. I have to live as He wants me to – shunning evil and loving righteousness and be sincere while at it knowing fully well that God cannot be deceived. (Psalm 45:7)

Prayer Focus
Faithful Father, thank You for drawing me to You. Please help me to live right, always exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit so as to authenticate my belief in You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
