A Pure Conscience.
The conscience, a person’s moral sense of right and wrong, when properly instructed in the Word, could show us when we have wronged God.
There are three basic types of conscience a true Christian may have:
▪ a weak conscience – one that isn’t instructed in the word of God, and is overly sensitive and calls some activities ‘sins’ which are not according to the Word of God (1 Cor. 8:1-13);
▪ a defiled conscience – one that is guilty due to wrongdoing (1 Cor. 8:7 );
▪ and a pure conscience – one that knows of no offense against God or man (Acts 24:16)
A pure conscience emboldens a Christian to come to God for his needs – physical and spiritual. Also, when our conscience is pure, we are able to preach the gospel without fear, knowing that no one can point a finger at us in areas we haven’t made right.
Paul strove to have a pure conscience towards God and man. Our desire should also be to have a pure conscience towards God and man, knowing that we have not offended God or our brethren in any way.
Is your conscience troubled? The blood of Jesus has the capacity to cleanse your conscience from dead works. Go to God in prayer and plead the blood of Jesus over your spirit.
I pray that God will cleanse our conscience from dead works, and grant us boldness to continue to proclaim the Good News.
Prayer focus:
Father, I thank You for Your blood which cleanses our conscience from dead works. I pray that You help me to maintain a pure conscience towards You and my brethren, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
