No, Not One.

Psalm 142:4

I looked on my right hand, and beheld,
but there was no man that would know me:
refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

Have you ever heard this song…

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
No, not one. No, not one.

Jesus knows all about our struggles
He will guide till the day is done
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
No, not one. No, not one. ” ?

Perhaps you have.

David was in trouble. He was in the cave, yet there was no man to help him but God.

Believers know that God is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). This is why we must draw closer to Him daily – via prayer, his word, and fastings. We must love His company and learn His ways. We must do things that please him, and flee things that displease him.

So that before we call he will answer and while we are yet speaking he will hear (Isaiah 65:24).

Prayer: Father,
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where thou hast died
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the precious bleeding site.
