You say to yourselves, “We can hardly wait for the holy days to be over so that we can sell our grain. When will the Sabbath end, so that we can start selling again? Then we can overcharge, use false measures, and fix the scales to cheat our customers.
Amos 8:5 GNT
When will the holy days be over?
When will the Sabbath end?
Those were the questions the Israelites were asking back then so they could go back to doing ” business as usual”.
Godly living wasn’t sustainable for them so they limited it to Holy days or Sabbath 😳
They were trying put God in a box. For them to think that way, the mindset clearly showed they didn’t believe in nor did they acknowledge the omnipresent power of God.
God’s presence isn’t like our WhatsApp presence. Online today, offline tomorrow. He’s always ON and He expects us to be aware of that fact.
He’s with us in the toilet. He’s with us in the office. He’s not only with us in Church on Sundays or on Bible study days.
Live a Godly life 24/7 because God is with us all the time. He has already empowered us.
Don’t follow the example of the people Amos warned, good today, bad tomorrow, depending on how holy or Sabbath-ish the period was.
Prayer: Father give me the grace to live for you always in Jesus name.
