David’s One Secret

Learn life secrets from David

While we examine the life of David, in comparison to Solomon his son, we see clear differences.

1. David’s focus was God, God, and more God!

Rarely did we find him write any poem or any love letter for any woman. His whole heart was on God. He wrote expressly and profusely about how much God meant to him.

Consider:

ONE THING have I desired of the Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple.
Psalms 27:4

One thing. That’s all. That defined his life, such that when he fell he knew who the strength of his life was – The Lord (Psalm 27:1)

For a lot of us, our bank accounts are the strength of our life. For others, our wives and husbands are the strength of our lives. Our maybe our jobs, or careers, or children. This is why when those things are removed (like in the case of Job), we fall and lose hope. We begin to ask God questions.

But not so with David. David knew God to be the strength of his life.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 27:1 KJV

Let us sit back today and examine our lives, and ask:

My soul, who is the strength of your life?

Make Jesus the strength of your life; only then can you ask the next question: of whom shall I be afraid?
