April: month of LOVE
Reading: Psalm 44, 2 Corinthians 12,
The Pains That Humble Us
Text: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
Sometimes I wonder, why is it difficult for us to just be blameless. At times when we try, and succeed, to curb an old bad habit, we discover that there is this “other little thing” we do that we should not. And those times when all seems so perfect until something happens, which weakens and brings us to our knees.
And then, we have people question us. Why do such things befall us, Christians? Does our God not care? Isn’t He watching? Like Job, some tell us to renounce our faith and then our faith waivers. Remember, the word of God tells us in John 16:33 that we should be of good cheer, simply because we learn that God gives us an abundance of grace, (Romans 5:17).
These weaknesses remind us that we are human and only God’s strength can help us through every situation no matter how much we try.
LEARN and APPLY: Let us keep in mind, God’s strength takes off where ours end.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your love and grace. It is by your grace, that I am here. Amen.
