READ #LAActs Devotional Day 22 ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’

‘And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptised, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord’ Acts 22:16

We can be aware of our past, and be remorseful, however it should not become a blockage to God’s call and need of us. When you consider the man he was before he believed that the risen Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, the depth of Paul’s transformation is encouraging.

The same zeal he passionately pursued and persecuted the church is often said to account for the same zeal he used to preach the gospel of Christ. But there is one exception; he no longer killed for what he believed. He could so easily have used the same methods to commandeer Believers to exact the same passionate vengeance against those who spoke against the gospel of Christ, and triumphed.

Paul’s conversion demonstrates the power of God’s love and what it is to abide in Christ. God’s compassion and mercy is evident in Paul’s humility towards his accusers, even after they had beaten him to a pulp.

Do you have people or situations that truly test the love of God in you? You know the type; it takes just one thing to stir up your emotions that you will abandon grace in favour of revenge.

When we go out and speak with unbelievers who mock or violently oppose the gospel of Christ, or are faced with situations that seek to denounce the presence of God in our lives, let us take these lessons from Paul: –

1. Accept that the will of God and God’s calling in your life is not a lie. Find an opportunity to demonstrate the gospel of Christ in every situation; God will see you through.

2. Understand that it is not about you. Exalt God and reveal an attitude of love no matter the provocation.

When the Lord says you have been cleansed believe it and call others to be the same.

Prayer Focus
God I thank You for everything You are perfecting in my life. I will speak of Your goodness no matter what or who opposes it, in the name of our Lord, Amen.
