READ #LAActs Devotional Day 11 ‘God’s way will always prevail’

Supposing Peter wasn’t convicted of his vision in Acts 10 because it conflicted with his knowledge of the law? Or those ‘men from Cyprus and Cyrene’ also chose to preach to the Jews only?

Many of us limit the scope of our usefulness to God because of a past that appears beyond redemption. Or like the Jerusalem church have a perceived knowledge of God that assumes to be the authority of how ‘things’ should be. All of which limits God’s capacity to use us.

Through Peter’s trust and obedience, Cornelius and his household were saved. Through the men of Cyprus and Cyrene, Antioch, a city historically labelled a den of decadence and immorality that was worst than Rome, became the first place believers were called Christians.

No one can oppose God when God wants to depart from the norm. Jonah tried, Sarah interfered and Peter almost did too. Our reading of the word is to understand what God wants for humanity, and to know our part in fulfilling it. All we need is the word of God and the Holy Spirit; we need them both in equal measure.

Let us be mindful of setting limitations on our ability to spread the word, either within ourselves or of anyone else. The word of God will be spread to the ends of the earth and all men shall bless the LORD.

Ask God to use you to aid the growth of the church and promote the same kind of godliness and love of God as we are reading in Acts.

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!
For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord! Psalm 117 (NKJV)

Prayer Focus
Dear Lord, open my eyes to your vision. Make me a helper not a hindrance of your eternal plan, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
