January: the month of FAITH
Reading: Luke 9-12

Do Not Worry.

‘Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. “’ Luke 12:31

Sometimes, we are tempted to worry about something that is causing us concern in our lives, perhaps our future and/or how life will pan out for us. However, what does Christ have to say about this?

While He lived, Jesus comprehensively dealt with the issue of worry and anxiety. He taught believers, who are called by the name of the Lord, to trust God for our daily needs, which still applies today, worry accomplishes nothing! (Philippians 4:6)

King Solomon was the wisest that ever lived, even the queen of Sheba came to observe his kingdom (1 Kings 10:1-9). And yet Christ tells us that in all of King Solomon’s glory he was not as beautiful as a lily of the field, which blossomed in the morning and was dead by evening. Isn’t this mind-blowing?

Christ has challenged us to trust God. It gives God great pleasure to provide His Kingdom for us (Luke 12:32), indeed He has freely given us Christ – the biggest gift of all (Romans 8:32).

Let us rest in His promises and cast all our cares upon Him. Let us accept Christ’s challenge and dare to trust God, who knows our daily needs, and has graciously promised to take care of us.

Prayer Focus
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to trust in Your limitless ability to provide for me daily. I lay all my anxiety at your feet henceforth in Jesus’ name. Amen.
