#LAJoshua Devotional Day 8

#LAJoshua MV Day 8

When you become a parent, heritage becomes important. Well, for me it did, especially when I started to reflect on what ancestral blueprint this baby I was carrying could inherit. Not just in health but also spiritually. I knew that I needed to put to rest certain things and build up others for my unborn child.

Look carefully at today’s chapters, the tribes settled with the Canaanites. They were given a Divine command to take complete control but most chose the easy road and settled, enslaving the inhabitants is not a success but a compromise. The consequences of this led to the inhabitants corrupting and dominating much of societal norms and centuries of idolatry defecting people away from God (see Judges, 1 and 2 Kings, Hosea). The Canaanites were a constant threat until the reign of King Solomon, when Canaan was given to him as wedding gift from an Egyptian Pharaoh after Pharaoh had conquered it.

Let us completely fulfill the promise that God has given rather than the appearance of it. We are not to be contented with our own personal gains. Check the root of your ambitions and beware the desire to succeed after years of frustration.

Who and what are the Canaanites in our lives that may potentially become harmful to our future generations faithful obedience to God?

Prayer Focus
Beloved Lord, clarify and strengthen my focus that I may not compromise your command to be a reflection You. Thank You Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
