#LAJoshua Devotional Day 2 by Adaobi Nwosu

Mighty to Save

For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever. Joshua 4:23 – 24

Looking back at our lives, we can recollect those negative circumstances that threatened to consume us – mine was the threat of a job loss. That we are still here to tell these stories is a testimony of God’s deliverance from dire situations.

We must stand firm on God’s word because we have faith that the God who saw us through in the past is still mighty to deliver us today. One of my pastor’s favorite statements is, ‘the Lord who delivered you on six occasions will not abandon you on the seventh occasion.’

The beautiful thing about challenges is that it is another opportunity for God to show himself strong on our behalf. So that all men might marvel at His mighty work and give glory to Him.

His past faithfulness is therefore a reminder for us to trust Him in our present reality. For our Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save us (Isaiah 59:1).

Prayer focus
Thank you Lord for Your faithfulness through the years. As we face challenges today and in the future, we trust in Your mighty hand, which is able to save and deliver us in Jesus’ name, Amen.
