#LA2Kings Devotional Day 22 by Kemi Ogunjimi (@feyily)

ENQUIRING OF THE LORD

Go you, inquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah… 2 kings 22:13

We often say that God knows everything, which is right. But, we often fail to seek the will of God where it concerns us. God does not intend to keep this vast knowledge to himself, He wants us to seek answers from Him and enquire of things to come. Just like Josiah did, a lot of people enquired from the Lord and they were not put to shame. God does not hold anything back from us when we ask in obedience. For example, Isaac and Rebekah enquired of the Lord about the struggling children in her womb, and He answered that two nations were inside her, Genesis 25:22.
The children of Israel enquired of the Lord, after the death of Joshua, who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites to fight against them, Judges 20:18.

Before any King was crowned in Israel enquiries were made from God.
In the past priests enquired from the Lord for people; since Christ died for us, we all have the liberty to pray to God. All believers are now priests; we can enquire of the Lord directly. ‘But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellences’ of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.’ 1 Peter 2:9

Since we have this wonderful privilege, we don’t need to go to someone else, such as a priest or prophet, in order to know what the Lord wants for our lives or what the future holds. Saul, because he inquired from the Lord and did not get answers consulted another medium and for this he was greatly punished.

I will like to encourage you to seek His face concerning your finance, employment, marriage, children and every other thing.

Enquiring from the Lord is a choice you need to make to avoid mistakes in life

Prayer focus
Father, help me to seek your face daily. Lord, lead me in the paths of righteousness; May I not go my own way in Jesus’ name, Amen.
