Listen to DAY 94 on SoundCloud

Memory Verse:

 Psalm 94:22 NIV

But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

3:05pm, Jun 11 – Ike-amadi.com: And yea, RIP king Solomon!

3:33pm, Jun 11 – Chiamaka: Lessons from today’s readings pls!

3:35pm, Jun 11 – Chiamaka: Well from the old testament reading, God was well pleased with Solomon’s prayer and sealed it with the fire that consumed the sacrifice!!!!! This reminds me that when we pray, we should believe strongly that God has heard and will answer us in Faith

7:11pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Hello family. How is everyone doing?

I have a question from chapter 6. I noticed that throughout Solomon’s prayer he kept on saying ‘when they pray toward this temple” or ‘when they pray in the direction of the temple….’

Can anyone explain why he kept on mentioning it? Why did they have to face the direction of the temple, even while in exile? Is it cos the Ark was in there?

7:18pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Hi Adun.

7:18pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Hmmm, that’s a good q.

7:19pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Hi everyone!  Let me try answer this

7:22pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: It’s important to understand the customs of Jewish people when reading the old testament. This helps us to understand the context of the situations the people back then were in.

7:25pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Back then and till today,  Jewish people pray facing the east. ..which is toward Jerusalem

7:27pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Oh ok. That makes sense

7:28pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Could the temple have been built facing toward Jerusalem?  Hmm just a thought…

7:29pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: I dunno o

7:30pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: In verse 20, Solomon reminds God that He said He would call the temple His own

7:31pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Maybe that’s why??

7:31pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Let’s find out from previous chapters

7:32pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Yeah..if u read God’s reply, He said he would fill the temple with His presence.

7:32pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Yup

7:32pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Yeah

7:32pm, Jun 11 – Ese: Ok, thats a good question.

No idea here so glad to read too these responses

7:34pm, Jun 11 – Adun: But then Solomon said ‘if your people are in exile and they pray towards the temple….answer them’.

But then God said (I paraphrase)…’When they sin(disobey his commands and worship other gods)  and are taken into exile, others who pass by the temple would be appalled by the way the temple looks

7:35pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: So in essence Solomon was praying that God would answer the people’s prayers whenever they pray toward the temple where the presence of God resides.

7:39pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Hmm Adun that struck me too.

7:44pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Let me quote the verse

7:45pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: 2 Chronicles 7:19-22 AMP

But if you [people] turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you and go and serve other gods and worship them, Then will I pluck [Israel] up by the roots out of My land which I have given [them]; and this house which I have hallowed for My Name will I cast out of My sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this house, which was so high, shall be an astonishment to everyone passing it, and they will say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house? Then men will say, Because they forsook the Lord, the God of their fathers, Who brought them out of Egypt, and they laid hold of other gods and worshiped and served them; therefore has He brought all this evil upon them.

7:46pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: But before that, God said:

7:46pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 AMP

If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.

7:47pm, Jun 11 – Olaolu: I tink as a king God honor him more, and if the temple was built in his Tenure as king his Good record wil be there and it will become a reference point to him and his Generation even he is no more that is while he lay more emphasis on the Completion of the temple and the prayer of the people towards the Temple!

7:49pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: So,  God did not say he won’t listen to them at all.  He gave a condition,  that even when they disobey and they are in exile,  if they repent, he Will hear and heal

7:50pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Only if they repent and turn away from their sins

7:50pm, Jun 11 – Olaolu: I think u are right!

7:55pm, Jun 11 – Ese: 

8:18pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Side note  King Solomon was a true leader! He wasn’t ashamed to get on his knees in the presence of his subjects (2 Chron 6:13)

8:27pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Makes sense!!

8:28pm, Jun 11 – Adun: I guess I was a little thrown off by the part when He talked about how bad the temple would look such they ppl that pass by would be appalled by it

8:32pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O:  that’s what disobedience can do.  Something so magnificent can come to ruin.  Unfortunately that was what eventually happened to the temple. Because the Israelites followed other gods and So went into captivity

8:43pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: @temi – So true!

9:10pm, Jun 11 – Ibukun: Hi guys

9:21pm, Jun 11 – Ibukun: One thing I noticed is people kept giving Solomon stuff! He was the richest king but he still got stuff! Truly, the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and addeth no sorrow! Plus it shows there’s God’s favor that commands favor before men

9:23pm, Jun 11 – Ese: True that Ibukun. I noticed that too

9:23pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: 

9:24pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Am thinking value!!!

9:24pm, Jun 11 – Adun: When we add value to people’s lives, value would come back to us

9:25pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Solomon’s wisdom was the value he had, which he added to people’s lives

9:25pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: Hmmm true!

9:25pm, Jun 11 – Adun: The gold and chariots and other things were the value they added back to him

9:25pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: God put something in Solomon that made him become sought after

9:26pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Yes!!!

9:26pm, Jun 11 – Adun: His wisdom!!

9:26pm, Jun 11 – Temi La187: Ah yes! Well said

9:27pm, Jun 11 – Kemi O: God has put something valuable in each of us. I pray we discover it and put it to use for His glory.

9:31pm, Jun 11 – Ese: Amen

9:32pm, Jun 11 – Ibukun: Amen

9:35pm, Jun 11 – Adun: Amen!!

11:44pm, Jun 11 – Olu Seun: Welcome home darling Yetunde. Growth and empowerment await you.

Hello Family! Nothing shall separate me from my loving family. 

2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I would love to focus on Nigeria but this also applies to Christians looking for a change in their environment in general. People who are called by my name = Christians. After praying for change, the role we have to play is turn away from our wicked ways (whatever we are doing to contribute to the decay). Christians should stop praying without changing themselves. As Christians we should be known as people of integrity and uprightness yet you find that there isn’t even one good testimony about us.

We’re fresh, let’s stay away from not so fresh activities.

It can be anything from littering the roads to falsifying documents. As the spirit convicts.

Declaration time:

2 Chronicles 9:3-4, 8 NIV

When the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, as well as the palace he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, the cupbearers in their robes and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the Lord , she was overwhelmed.  Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king to rule for the Lord your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king over them, to maintain justice and righteousness.”

May our lives overwhelm those around us in Jesus name to the point that they have no choice but to praise and glorify our God.

2 Chronicles 9:23 NIV

All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

People will seek us out to hear what we have to say by virtue of the wisdom of God flowing in and through us in Jesus name. As Kemi said,  we shall be sought after in Jesus name.

12:57am, Jun 12 – Ij: Psalm 94 vs 17-19 MSG   If GOD hadn’t been there for me,

I never would have made it.

The minute I said, “I’m slipping, I’m falling,”

your love, GOD, took hold and held me fast.

When I was upset and beside myself,

you calmed me down and cheered me up.

12:59am, Jun 12 – Ij: Be rest assured… God will ALWAYS be there for us, to hold us fast, never letting us fall

12:59am, Jun 12 – Ike-amadi.com: Amen!!

12:59am, Jun 12 – Ese: Amen
