God’s Promise

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities… Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV).

The book of Hebrews opens with God stating that in these last days, He has chosen to speak to us through his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, and by whom he also made the worlds (1:1-3). This tells us that God is open to a direct relationship with us (through Jesus Christ). We don’t have to depend on our Pastors, Prophets or any other person for an efficient relationship with Him. He also reminds us that we ought to give more earnest heed to the things, which we have heard through His son (His word), lest at any time we should let them slip. This is to say that our relationship with Jesus Christ is key in our relationship with God that once we neglect the Son we have automatically neglected the father.

God understands our human frailties and has granted us forgiveness and cleansing through Jesus. So we now have a high priest whom, though was in all points tempted like we are yet found without sin, is still deeply touched with the feeling of our infirmities; and willingly atones for us in heaven (God’s presence).

We are therefore encouraged to hold fast unto God through Jesus Christ, because “we are made partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end (3:14)”.

Prayer
Help us dear Lord to come boldly unto your throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need, even as we remember that we won’t be able to escape your wrath if we neglect this great salvation you’ve granted us.
