Wisdom to Seek Counsel!

TEXT: “Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.” 1 Samuel 3:9

LEARN and APPLY:
The events that end up being life changing for us often do not announce themselves and our willingness to ask for counsel when necessary could change everything for us like it did for Samuel. For this reason, it is important that we have mentors or coaches who we can approach for counsel.

God’s idea for us is to learn from others. Like Samuel, we must be wise enough to seek for help and obey. As we see from Eli, although he was old, blind and could not hear God himself, it did not mean that he did not recognize God’s voice. Our mentors will never be perfect men and may not have walked in the path we seek but their wise counsel can take us to places they missed.

Pray: Dear Father, please give me the wisdom to seek and maintain mentors and teaching relationships that will provide guidance for me in my pursuit of purpose. Give me grace to ask the right questions in Jesus’ name.
