Wisdom To Remain In God’s Will

TEXT: “Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land” – Gen 34:1(NKJV)

At first glance, there seems to be nothing unusual with this verse, but a closer look shows a distinction. Dinah was not a daughter of the land, yet she went out and mingled with them. To mingle, she first had to ‘go out’! Sometimes as believers, we ‘go out’, forgetting We are not of this world, (2 Cor6:14, John 17:16). There is a distinction.

Secondly we note that Romans 12:2 cautions against conforming to the world. I am not suggesting that we remain aloof, and leave the world around us untouched, however, be as wise as serpents (Matt 10:16) to avoid the corruption that is in the world, especially when it comes to a union such as marriage.

The folly/boredom that led Dinah to go out when there was none to counsel (her brothers were in the fields) led to her being defiled. So we must endeavor to keep our garments spotless.

Pray: Father, give me the wisdom to understand that there is a distinction between me and the world, and help me to stay away from paths that will lead to defilement and shame in Jesus name.
