When Looking Back Saves

TEXT: “For He remembered His holy promise, And Abraham His servant.” Psalm 105:42(NKJV)

Have you ever experienced those challenging seasons, which force you to take a deep look at yourself? And for most battling to overcome, there will be a time in their lives when they begin to reflect on their choices and wonder where they went wrong, and for some this can lead to self-blame. Thankfully, we have scripture to help channel our self-pity into words of praise when we remember God’s grace.

Whether it is you, or someone you know, Psalm 105 is to encourage us that God is in everything concerning our lives. Use it to build and strengthen the faith of one whose faith is weakening. Help them remember those early days of favour from God. Or if you are a non-believer, remember when someone has helped you when you were in need? It was not luck.

You are a child of God. And our God is a God of action, working tirelessly to satisfy our lives (Jer 29:11). Our God speaks truth and God’s promise to you is assured (Heb. 6:13-19). That same grace, which has sustained you in the past, has not expired. It was there for you yesterday. It will be there for you today. It will be there for you eternally.

May our lives continually speak the inexplicable blessing of God’s promise.

LEARN and APPLY: Journaling our faith not only helps us to remember the goodness of God in our lives, but also encourages us when we are running empty in zeal and trust.

Pray: Search me O God, mould my thoughts that they may always be thankful in remembrance of Your works in me. In Jesus’ name Amen.
