Turn It To Him

TEXT: “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12

A fallow ground can be defined as farmland that is not being put to use, even though it has the potential to produce a harvest if cultivated and planted. It was the practice of farmers to keep an area of land fallow, while other farmland was in use, in order to preserve the fallow ground for future planting seasons.

We too may find that there are areas we hand over to God without hesitation. Then there are some we prefer to leave fallow and out of His touch, for example, how we handle our finances or relating with our in-laws. Such behaviour may be born out of a belief that we know how best to handle that aspect of our life.

If you feel you are not experiencing God in an area of your life, chances are you may have left that area fallow. We are called to cultivate the ground by making it ready for the Master’s input, and by sowing seeds of righteousness. You can break that fallow ground by committing your situation into His hands. Follow His direction concerning that matter. Turn to Him and stay with Him, He promises a harvest of blessings from the seed we have sown.

LEARN and APPLY: Is there a part of your life that is causing worry and discontent? Is it in your career or family? Surrender it over to God and ask that His perfect will be done in that situation.

Pray: Dear heavenly Father, we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour over our entire life. We surrender completely to you and pray that Your will be done in us, in Jesus name, Amen.
