The Wedding Dress

TEXT: “She has been permitted to dress in fine (radiant) linen, dazzling and white—for the fine linen is (signifies, represents) the righteousness (the upright, just, and godly living, deeds, and conduct, and right standing with God) of the saints (God’s holy people)” Revelation 19:8 (AMP)

There’s a reality TV programme called ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ where it is the responsibility of the bridegroom to organise every detail of the wedding, including the bride’s dress. Now, in some cases, the bridegroom is spot on and knows his bride so well, sometimes choosing better than she would herself, in others it has been a complete disaster.

In Revelation 19, we see that same authority given to the bridegroom – the lamb (Jesus). The bride has no control over her gown. The quality of material and design of it is defined by the bridegroom’s chosen ones. Can you imagine your wedding gown, or that of your betrothed, at the mercy of the righteousness of the bridegroom’s chosen friends, family and associates?

What if you are chosen by a bridegroom today to have control over his bride’s wedding gown? Will your faith and lifestyle produce linen of the highest quality or synthetic material?

Who we are and what we do as faithful believers on earth has heavenly consequences. This is the purpose of consecration and it is important for us to begin to prepare our contribution to this great and wonderful marriage of the lamb.

LEARN and APPLY: The righteousness of the saints described in Revelations 19:8 is one of practical righteousness. Examine whether your faith is producing spiritual fruits.

Pray: Lord God, you deserve the highest of what my life can produce. Draw me closer to you, I am determined that Your bride is presented to You holy and without blemish, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
