The Way Of A Holy Man

Text: ‘For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;’
1 Thessalonians 4.3-4 (KJV)

As a kid, I held the belief that kids don’t do wrong before God. In fact my cousins and I concluded that kids are not evil, neither are they knowing before God. Now that I am grown, I realize the kind of grace that covered me as kid when I was unintentional with my actions compared to those actions coveted intentionally as an adult. Although I couldn’t do wrong as a kid, now as a grown up, there are lots of wrong before me of which I would need to be mindful.

The will of God is that we be intentional and mindful about ‎living a holy life. Though we may still get to enjoy the grace of God upon us, it is now better preserved when we stay away from sin. A sinful way is the only way that can lead a man to destruction – Proverbs 14:12, ‘There is a way which seem right to a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death.

So our salvation is not only carefully positioned but should be intentionally preserved by our conscious effort. 1 Thessalonians 5:3-4 (NLT) says, ‘Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honour.’ When we fail to control our actions, words and thoughts they will turn around to control us. To have control over our body, Christ gave us the Holy Ghost and without his help, we will swim in sin and go against God’s will.

LEARN and APPLY: Pray to abide with the presence of the Holy Spirit daily. We would need to condemn every unholy ways of our life and cry to God in prayers for sound interpretation of events that could make us sin.

Prayer Focus:
Thank You Lord Jesus for a life given and grace that accompanies. We pray to receive the spirit of boldness and firmness, to control our body against sin, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
