The Pruning And Profit Of God’s Word In Us.

How do we get the best from the word before we move from here to the great beyond?
Mark 4:14-15, “The sower sows the word. 15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Many people hear about salvation and holiness, they hear about the triumphant Christian life, but they don’t think about it, and because of that the word bears no fruit and has no profit in their lives. No matter how many times you hear the word, if you don’t take time to understand, meditate and decide saying, from this word I have heard, this is what I am laying aside, this is what I am going to concentrate on, Satan comes and takes the word away.

There are also those who may celebrate that they love the word, but it is all superficial. They too do not produce any fruits because they didn’t plough the fallow grounds of their hearts that the word may take root in them (Mark 4:16-17).

Some others read the Bible, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches: wealth, money, business are at the very centre of the throne of their hearts; Jesus says the deceitfulness of riches chokes the word and it becomes unfruitful (Mark 4:18-19).

It is not a problem of hearing the word; it is a problem of what was in your heart before hearing the word, while hearing the word, and after hearing the word.

Toss aside the deceitfulness of riches, cast away the cares of this life; dig deep into your heart so the word can have root in you. When you take all those things out, your heart becomes a good ground which bears much fruit (Mark 4:20).
