The Just And Loving God

Text: Micah 2

Our relationship with God unveils the many faces of God and gives us reason to trust and walk with Him, whatever our life’s path. Today, we see the picture of the ‘just judge’ and faithful father. So reassuring!

Oftentimes, we think God doesn’t see the acts of wicked people but our text today assures us that He does and that He is a just judge. He says that He will reward evil with evil that their enemies will laugh at them. (Micah 2: 3-5). So let us have confidence in God’s judicial system and His just nature. (Ps. 7:11)
God also speaks against false prophets who have taken advantage of people’s trust or need for comfort to speak lies and rob them blind. (Micah 2:7-11). Understand that God’s words are not necessarily comforting to our ears but when we seek comfort over truth, we encourage false prophets. And, if we do what is right, we will find God’s word comforting (Micah 2:7). As for the false prophets, God knows them too and their judgment is coming.

God is also a God of love. In Micah 2:12-13, He speaks of a wonderful return. With the same hand that permitted Israel to go into slavery for idolatry, He calls them back home. He is ‘Abba’, our Daddy who even whilst correcting our flaws, is watching out so we don’t get hurt.

LEARN and APPLY: Believe in God’s judicial system and know that He is more than able to be a righteous judge.

Pray: Father, forgive us for our idolatry. We repent and make You our No 1 priority. We appreciate Your jealous love for us and trust in Your capacity to defend us. Amen.
