The Holy Spirit Within: Our Helper and Guide #BookofTheMonth

May: Enjoying the Holy Spirit
Reading: Psalm 64, Colossians 3

MAY 10

‘And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another COMFORTER (COUNSELOR, HELPER, INTERCESSOR, ADVOCATE, STRENGTHENER and STANDBY) that He may remain with you forever,’ John 14:16-18 (Amplified)

The Holy Spirit is a Comforter, a Counselor, a Helper, an Intercessor, an Advocate, a Strengthener, and a Standby. We don’t need anything more than that.

Too often when some people need help, they just run around frantically — almost in a frenzy — just trying to find someone to pray for them. They forget that on the inside of them, they have a Helper.

The Holy Spirit is also our Guide. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth . . .” (John 16:13). Not only will He guide us into all truth, but the Holy Spirit will also guide us into the truth of God’s Word.

The Holy Spirit will guide us in all the affairs of life. “For as many AS ARE LED by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Rom. 8:14). No one can be guided or led, however, without placing themselves in the hands of the Guide. It is useless to pray to God, “Lord, guide me. Give me directions,” unless you are going to allow yourself to be guided.

Many times things will happen in your life, some good and some bad, and afterwards you will say, “I knew what to do all the time.”

Where did you know it? You knew it on the inside of you. Why didn’t you listen? It would save you many problems if you would learn to listen to your spirit. For the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord (Prov. 20:27). The Holy Spirit is dwelling in our spirits, and He is our Guide.

Confession: I will listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. I will not miss my way in life
