The End Is Near

Text:” I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; I will not spare; I will not relent; according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord God.” Ezekiel 24:14

Before the year is over, we may be inclined to do some stocktaking to see how our results measure up to the goals and investments made in the course of the year. Within our human strength we can reasonably predict what the end of the year will look like, and even take steps to effect some major changes before it is over.

Unfortunately this approach to our end of year reflections cannot compare with God’s end of the world. We cannot say when it will be and even Jesus does not know the exact time (Matt 24:36). How do you make changes before an event whose time is unknown? Jesus illustrated this scenario using the 10 virgins (Matt 25) and the master’s servant (Matt 24). It is not that they did not know the right thing to do but they could not be bothered and the end came.
God keeps His word. He has said we will not know the exact time the trumpet will sound and He has said there will be a judgement. We benefit when we watch, pray and win souls for Christ.

LEARN and APPLY: As we appraise the year, let us also take time to appraise our lives and make amends where necessary.

Pray: Thank You Father for the grace to be alive. We make the decision to be watchful and anticipate the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, in Jesus name, amen.
