Speak Up

Text: ‘For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others…’ Titus 1:10 (NLT)

We all know a person or two who speaks unruly and/or are vain talkers – those who go about spreading the gospel of falsehood and thereby deceiving people. Paul advises that these people must be stopped because they are turning people away from the truth by their false teachings. We cannot afford to sit back and be silent; we must speak up for what we believe in. However, our job is not to condemn, our job is to stop them from further damage by speaking the truth ourselves, in love.

Perhaps these people are not even aware of the damage they are causing, or they are doing it intentionally, either way the light in us can make all the difference, ‘…And with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.’ Romans 10: 10b.

The Holy Spirit wants to work in us, to speak through us, to reach the world through us and to find expression in us, but He will only do that if, and when, we allow Him.
‘But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?’ Romans 10:14

LEARN and APPLY: The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch and do nothing. God is at work in us, to do His will and to do of His good pleasure.

Prayer Focus:
Dear Father, as You have shown me the way, help me to show the world, through Your spirit in me. Have Your way in me, Spirit of God, and grant me the courage to always speak up for the truth. Amen.
