Ready For Heaven

Text: “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, …but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. “- Revelation 21:27

Several years ago, a friend visited America for the first time. When he returned, I had asked what he thought of it. He had liked the place so much that he described America as a small heaven.

Heaven is truly the standard of beauty and excellence. Revelation 21 speaks of a city descending out of heaven. A city where there is no night and has the Lamb as its light. A city where there is no sorrow, nor weeping, but rejoicing all day long. A city of pure gold, the foundations of whose wall are made of all kinds of precious stones. Heaven is really worth going to.

There is room for everyone in heaven for Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2). He wants you and me to enter Heaven and has gone to prepare the place for us (John 14:3).

God is loving and compassionate too, and is not willing that any should perish. And although all have been invited to enter this place of rest (Rev. 22:17), not everyone will have the right to enter this beautiful city. Only those who have received Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour, and whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life (Rev. 21:27) shall enter its gates.

LEARN and APPLY: We want our names to be written in the Lamb’s book of life. We want to enter heaven. So let us take time today and examine ourselves to see that we are in faith (2 Cor. 13:5).

Pray: Dear Lord, thank You for dying for my sins and writing my name in Your precious book. Preserve me blameless until You come to take me home. Amen.
