Reaching For More Than ‘Dividends’

TEXT: ‘But without faith, it is impossible to please Him.’ Hebrews 11:6(a) (NKJV)

As believers, we have been called to a life of faith. But what exactly is the point of having faith in God? Is it only to receive the good things of life from our Heavenly Father, (Matthew 7:11); or does faith perhaps have a deeper and more profound meaning?

I often find myself faced with situations in my workplace where my superiors’ expectations of our accomplished tasks is more than desiring for them to be complete, they want them done specifically. They want to be ‘pleased’ by my work and their joy is only complete when they see the assignment they’ve given completed exactly how they would’ve done it themselves.

And so it is with God. He doesn’t just want us to receive the wonderful ‘dividends’ of being His children. He wants us to receive them by having complete faith in Him. This is the only way He can derive true joy from our lives.

It is good for us to walk in faith concerning our finances, health, and the well-being of our family members. But it is crucial that we keep in mind that it is our act of faith that brings great delight to our Father.

LEARN and APPLY: Faith is designed for much more than just material blessings. It is a vital part of the life of sanctification that God demands from every believer. Today, let us do all in our power to focus less on said ‘dividends’, and more on the faith that God perceives from within our hearts.

Pray: Grant me a fresh revelation of you dear Father. Sanctify my mind and grant me depths of faith rooted deep in Your person that I may live to please You, and only You. Amen.
