Raising Fearless Champions

TEXT: when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

2 Timothy 1 (NKJV)

During a family dispute, the accusation “because of you I cannot take Christians seriously that’s why I don’t go to church” was told to a parent, which resonated within me as I recalled the reason I stopped attending church aged 12. But this drift from the church isn’t exclusive to dysfunctional parenting alone; even the child of the most faithful parents can drift away from the church. So I am most encouraged by Timothy’s grandmother and mother and the impact on a child’s life when the baton of faith is passed from generation to generation, and consider the ways I share my faith with my daughter.

This is simply done by living an authentic and genuine faith, which isn’t exclusive to parents alone. We all have a calling to lead by example, especially as there will always be ‘babes’, be it children or new believers, who are silently observing how to live our identity in Christ.

It is our judgement to ensure that we remain diligent and humble as we allow Christ to live in and through us because everything we do bears fruit, be it good or bad. How we live can make or break our children’s, and new believers’, ability to live a fearlessly abundant life in Christ. How we live guarantees the gospel of Christ lives on from generation to generation until the coming of our Lord.

LEARN and APPLY: 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us the strengths of a genuine faith; the body of Christ is full of Lois’ and Eunices, you may be one or in need of one, ask the Holy Spirit leading to connect you to your person of purpose.

Prayer Focus:
Lord God, help us to remain committed to Your ways in faith and love, which are in Christ Jesus. Where one is strong in faith and another struggles in fear help the two connect, let us rise as one in Jesus’ name, Amen.
