Our God Of Second Chances

TEXT: ‘…Oh Sovereign Lord, are you going to kill everyone in Israel?’ Ezekiel 11:13

The word of God can be so many things to His people. To some it is the bread of life, it heals and to others it is judgement. In Ezekiel 1-12, God revealed the wicked leaders in Israel and pronounced judgment on them. It was so bad that while the Lord spoke, one of the leaders died. Ezekiel was grieved in his spirit. He knelt down and cried unto God (Ez. 11:13). However when God sees a righteous man, He can decide to change His word (Ez. 11:14-17). He is a merciful God!

‘When God speaks of a new covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear’ (Heb. 8:13 NIV). Sometimes we mess up, we do things we should not do and let God down. At such times, the devil will remind us of the word of God that brings judgment. He tells us ‘the soul that sinneth shall die’ (Ez. 18:20 KJV). But as children of God, we should know better, our God is a merciful father (James 2:13).

LEARN and APPLY: We cannot work, or walk, with God with the knowledge of some of His attributes. We must know Him as our all, and this can only happen when we take time out to study what His word says.

Pray: Help us Lord to meditate on your word and apply it always.
