‘Firm Anchor’ (Psalm 118) by @buqolar #LAFruits Devotional

TEXT: ‘He is for me! How can I be afraid? What can mere man do to me? ’ -Psalm 118:6 NLT

I recently watched a recorded video by the ISIS where Christians were being beheaded and burnt in the Middle East. The video brought tears to my eyes, not just because people were being killed but because these people were Christians just like me, Christians who were sold out to Christ, Christians who were determined to stay true to the cause of Christ, Christians who would go to any length for the sake of the gospel. Christians who understood exactly what Apostle Paul meant when he said ‘For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.’

We may not all be martyrs but the question is, how far are you willing to go? What does an unsaved soul mean to you? Are you comfortable talking about Jesus in certain places and on certain occasions only? What shall separate you from the love of Christ?

We have a heavenly Father, and He is not an irresponsible Father. He is a firm and steady anchor no matter what life throws at us. Here’s the best part; He is at work in us. We can trust Him to do His work through us but first and foremost, we must let go of the limits and be willing to go to any length, come what may.

LEARN and APPLY: God is for you, Jesus Christ is in you, the Holy Spirit is within you. Therefore, do not fear; you will succeed in everything you venture in God’s name.

PRAY: Dear Lord, it is your command that we go and make disciples of all nations. Help me to do this with everything you have blessed me with. Help me to deal with fear and help me to follow you to the end. Amen.
