No Pain, No Gain

Text: “Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. “2 John 8 (NLT)

A few weekends ago, my hair was such a mess. My schedule was so tight that it seemed I could not even spare an hour to get my hair done. I wished that by some magic, I could have it styled without going to a saloon. Well, that never happened. I had to intentionally decide to create the time for an appointment.

We often get caught in wishing for a reward of which we are not willing to work. We should be intentional in our choices. Yes, salvation is free, but we have to work it out ourselves (Phil 2:12). This does not mean our works saves us, simply that our response to the finished work of Christ matters.

The life of a believer is not “Que sera sera”, it is the outcome of daily decisions. If we desire to have a life experience that does not contradict the word, then we must be intentional in our continuous study and application of the word.

LEARN and APPLY: The attention we give to the word determines the reward we experience from it. We must diligently apply ourselves to the word to enjoy its rich benefits.

Pray: Dear Lord, thank You for rewarding those who diligently seek You. May we never grow weary in our walk with You, and may we enjoy our reward in full. Amen.
