Loyalty Beyond Death
1 Samuel 31

And when the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul; All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there. 1 Samuel 31:11-12

Learn and Apply:

Saul was dead, adn thus all Israel was in disarray. The Philistines were having a swell time denigrating Saul’s body and those of his sons. What a sad time for Israel. In the midst of all that chaos, the people of Jabeshgilead remembered Saul’s kindness to them, when there was no one to stand up for them against Nahash, Saul mobilized the all Israel for their case. They couldn’t sleep with Saul’s body in the open; they traveled all night until they had recovered their bodies and brought them back to Jabesh (1 Samuel 11). They remained loyal to Saul even in death.

Has God put you in a position of power and resources? Use it for good. Touch as many lives as possible, for you never know who will stand up for you, or for your kith and kinwhen you are in no position to stand up for yourself or for them.

May God help us to do the most good to the most people in Jesus name.

Pray: Father, thank you for all you have given me. Help me to be useful to my generation in Jesus name. Give me boldness to stand up for the oppressed in the land in Jesus name. Amen.
