June 27 – Proverbs 27: Faithful Friend

Faithful Friend
Proverbs 27

Text: Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off (Proverbs 27:10).

Learn and Apply: As we work and serve with others, God gives us opportunity to make lifelong friendships. When we meet people, and they impact on our lives positively, we should not fail to pass on that story to our children, so that the godly relationships can continue. Before he died, David gave Solomon a list of people – his friends – for him to take care of (). He wanted the relationship to continue. And Solomon did well to follow his father’s instructions and advises us to do same.

As we go about life, let us observe the godly relationships that God makes us a part of, and pass on the stories to our kids who will also continue and strengthen the relationship. Also, we must continue to show ourselves friendly to our friends by assisting them in their necessities, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and daily praying for them. As we do so, God will bless our friendships and give us lasting relationships.

Pray: Father, thank you for your word on building strong and holy friendships. Give me the grace to be a good example of a faithful friend in Jesus name.
