Why Pray?
Proverbs 21

Text: The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.
Proverbs 21:31

Learn and Apply: Many seeming ‘elites’ now propagate the idea that prayer is unnecessary in the achievement of success and significance. They believe that to achieve success and wealth one only needs to prepare, plan, and pursue. However, Solomon here points our minds back to the true giver of safety and victory – the Lord. The captain of our salvation. The commander in chief of the armed forces of heaven. The one who causes us to prevail over every life situation.

God wants to be involved in every battle we are facing. He also promises to deliver us out of the snare of the fowler and every trap of the enemy (Psalm 91:3). One sure way to get God involved is through prayer, by acknowledging that our sufficiency comes only from God. Certainly this should not make us lazy, but should make us extra diligent so that the grace of God upon our lives will not be in vain (1 Cor. 15:10).

Acknowledging that we are victorious only by the grace of God will encourage us to grow from grace to grace, and to excel in every good work.

Pray: Father thank you for your grace so freely given to me. Help me to not take it for granted but to be diligent so as to make full proof of my life and ministry in Jesus name.
