Hold Onto God’s Word (1 Tim 1) by @newnaija #LAFruits Devotional

READING: Psalm 74, 1 TIMOTHY 1

@thelafamily MAY 20

Text: ‘Timothy, my child, I entrust to you this command, which is in accordance with the words of prophecy spoken in the past about you. Use those words as weapons in order to fight well’. 1 Timothy 1:18 (Good News Bible)

Paul advises Timothy to use the word of prophecy spoken about him as a weapon. How perfect is that friends! We need to keep a journal of what the Holy Spirit speaks to us for reference purposes. I remember when I was asking God to speak in a certain area of my life, He told me that “what He said in the past, what did I do with them?” At another time of seeking God for answers, He again reminded me that He gave me the answer I was seeking long ago and I should go and check my diary.

The Holy Spirit is not talkative. He expects you and I to work and use the things He has spoken. Friends, it is high time we begin to wage war with the words we’ve received in the past. Let me share with you this testimony. My second son was having serious health challenges. We were more in hospital than out of it. I remembered going to God in prayers, I told me Him, this and that was what You told me when this boy was in the womb. What is happening has no bearing with the prophecy You gave me concerning his life. That was the end of the challenge my friends. It has been close to two years and we are yet to go to the hospital for anything concerning him.

Friends, what has God told you in the past?

LEARN and APPLY: It is time to dust your diary and start waging war with those precious words that God spoke to your heart. Those words are not meant as quotable quotes, they are precious arsenal to wage spiritual warfare.

Prayer Focus:
Lord, help me to be able to locate the word for me and to fight the good fight with it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
