Fortify Yourself With The Word

TEXT: “and say, ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, to the hills, to the ravines, and to the valleys: “Indeed I, even I, will bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places” Ezekiel 6:3 (NKJV)

When we make God’s love the driving force of our lives, we have no need to seek fulfilment in other places. Neither will we attribute the beauty we see in our lives to any other but God, nor can the ugliness of life cast shadows because ‘greater is He that is” in us (1 John 4:4).
There is a grace upon our lives, which is –
– a call to do good and not evil, (Amos 5:14, 3 Jn 1:11)
– a call to love God with all our heart, soul and mind (Luk. 10:27)
– a call to spread the good news that Jesus is the Messiah (Matt. 25:31-46)

And in our days, and the days to come until the Lord’s return, the ‘sword’ (Ez. 6:3) that is against us is the word of God. The sword that will battle for our sakes is the word of God – “God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defence, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what.” Heb. 4:12-13 (MSG)

Therefore whether your mountain, ravine or valley is something / someone that is a stumbling block , which prevents you living God’s will – strengthen yourself with the word of God.
Or your hilltop is something / someone that you have placed on high above God – strengthen yourself through the word of God.

LEARN and APPLY: In Ezekiel 6 we see the consequences of turning away from God’s love but Psalm 73 reminds us how good it is to be close to God. (Ps. 73:25-28).

Pray: Beloved LORD, hold me by my right hand and guide me with Your counsel so that wherever I look, I see you, and wherever I tread, Your glory goes before me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
