For The Consecrated.

Text: “The 144,000 people stood before the throne, the four living creatures, and the elders; they were singing a new song, which only they could learn. Of the whole human race they are the only ones who have been redeemed. They are the men who have kept themselves pure by not having sexual relations with women; they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been redeemed from the rest of the human race and are the first ones to be offered to God and to the Lamb. They have never been known to tell lies; they are faultless.” Revelation 14:3-5 (GNB)

Whenever I watch old movies and read stories about the days of apartheid, I never fail to be amazed that many were denied access to things simply because of their appearance. They did not choose their appearances, they had no control over it, but it automatically denied them many privileges. They simply did not meet the unjust and unfair criteria that had been set. Not so with Christianity. Throughout our walk with God we decide to meet, or not to meet, the simple and fair criterion God set for our benefit. And until we fulfil this condition, we may never access the full reach and depths, which God wants for us.

The 144,000, who stand before the throne, will have met God’s standards. They will sing a song that only they could learn. And, they will be the only ones redeemed because they will have kept themselves. They are consecrated – virgins.

The Lord’s standard is clear: He looks for worthy, consecrated vessels; ready to be used for good work (2 Tim. 2:21). Yes, we have the freedom to choose but the lord will only use the consecrated.

Which will you decide, to live a life of consecration, or a life of desecration?

LEARN and APPLY: We must deliberately keep ourselves for God, who requires a life of consecration from us.

Pray: Lord, strengthen me. Help me to stand and live a fully consecrated life, set apart for you.
