Follow God Forever

TEXT: “For all the people walk each one in the name of his god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.” Micah 4:5

During a game of table tennis with my boys, I asked one of them when he would finally give his life to Christ. He replied, “If I give my life to Christ, I will have to follow God fully, and that is a very great commitment.” For him it was something he would do later as he didn’t want to give up some of the things he was currently doing.

When we make God our Lord and savior, we give up our own will, and sign up to do the will of God. It is a commitment, which is not only to last a few days, but forever and ever. The Israelites made that commitment to follow God and His ways forever and ever (Micah 4:5). What a great commitment!

Many of us do not want to make that commitment because we are scared we’ll disobey God along the way. We forget that we do not save ourselves. We are saved, sanctified, and sustained by the grace of God. God is able to keep all that is committed to His care (2 Timothy 1:12). And if we make up our minds to consecrate our spirit, soul, and body to doing the will of God, He will not let us fall. He will uphold us till the end, and bring us home to heaven at last.

LEARN and APPLY: Trust God and make up your mind to do His will forever and ever, and watch him show Himself mighty through your life.

Pray: Thank You father for the promise to keep all who come to You. Help me to trust You daily and give me grace to do your will forever and ever. Amen.
