Faith And Work

Text: ‘For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.‘ James 2:26 (NKJV)

One of the reasons I gave my life to Christ early in life was my mum. While growing up, I noticed she was different. She did not curse like I observed in the other parents around me. Even without opening her mouth to preach to me, I felt that something was different in her life, and I wanted that thing. Her good works pushed me into the arms of the Lord without her preaching to me directly.

We show people around us that we are people of faith through our works. It is your good work that is the fruits of your salvation and not the other way round. If you proclaim you have faith, you can only demonstrate it by your work. Faith without work is dead.

Friends, good works does not save us, we are saved to do good works. The Lord Jesus paid for our salvation in full, and there is nothing we can do to earn it. Therefore, since we cannot buy salvation with good works, should we cross our hands and sit down idly? No. Our faith is demonstrated through our works. Jesus said, ‘by their fruit [we] shall know them’ (Matt 7:20). And these fruits are your work of righteousness.

What work are you working and what example are you showing to people around you?

LEARN and APPLY: People around are watching you, especially how you carry yourself. Be sure to show them Christ.

Pray: Lord, help me to always be a good ambassador of Yours everywhere I go. Let me not disappoint heaven with my works. Amen
