Enduring Love

TEXT: “Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.” Hosea 3:1 (NKJV)

The book of Hosea is a unique story. God asks His prophet to marry a prostitute to exemplify how much He loves us even though we reject Him and follow our idols. Gomer, despite how much Hosea loved her, leaves him to return to prostitution. Still, God commands Hosea to go after her and love her.

Just like Gomer, our heavenly Father loves us. He will always desire our return no matter how far we have gone from His will. In 2 Peter 3:9, observe how God does not desire for anyone to perish but that we all should come to repentance. Just as God sent Hosea after Gomer, He also sent Jesus Christ to exemplify His love, and pay the price for us once and for all. God gave us His best when He sacrificed His son.

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, receive him now. If you are saved and have left the narrow path that leads to eternal life, God loves you and wants you back.
No matter how far away you have wandered, He invites you to return and seek Him and His goodness (Hosea 3:5).

LEARN and APPLY: Let us always remember God’s grace and mercy, even when we fall short of our calling. Let us share this gospel within our communities so that they may return and reconcile themselves back to Him.

Pray: Thank You Father for Your consistent and enduring love. We pray that we will not receive Your grace and mercy in vain in Jesus name, amen.
