El Roi!!

TEXT: Look around [you, Habakkuk, replied the Lord] among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days [such] that you would not believe it if it were told you. Habakkuk 1:5 (AMP)

There have been times when I felt it was easier to share my challenges with another human. God seemed alien, like He is up there and I’m down here therefore He cannot possibly relate to my human struggles. But we do have a Father that can relate with our individual struggles.

El Roi “the One who sees me” is one of my favourite names of God. Habakkuk was troubled by the prevalence of evil in his time and he boldly and confidently took his concerns to God. God saw his pain and present circumstance, and answered with an avalanche of proof and prediction. God told Habakkuk that it may seem as though the wicked triumph, but eventually they will be judged, and righteousness will prevail.

When our circumstances become almost unbearable, we wonder if God sees us or understands what we are going through. Just because you don’t feel the radiation of the sun doesn’t mean it is not shining, God too sees us and knows exactly what we need.

LEARN and APPLY: Our hope comes from God (Psalm 39:7). Hope means going beyond our unpleasant experiences to the joy of knowing God for ourselves.

Pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us a High Priest that sees and understands our weaknesses. We receive the grace to constantly place our hope in You and not get distracted by whatever maybe going on around us in Jesus name! Amen!
