The Good Boss

TEXT: “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘If you will walk in My ways, and if you will keep My command, then you shall also judge My house, and likewise have charge of My courts; I will give you places to walk among these who stand here.”  Zechariah 3:7

Have you ever showed up for work, especially on Mondays, excited and prepared to work because of your boss? Regardless of our job satisfaction or the bond we form with colleagues, the overriding factor in the work place, which determines our professional progress, is the commitment, investment and leadership of your boss. Likewise, our spiritual progress is endorsed only by God; our Divine boss.

In Zechariah 3, observe how God is committed and invested in those who are dedicated in their service to Him. At the time of Zechariah’s vision, Joshua is Jerusalem’s High Priest yet his appearance in the vision in filthy rags alludes to something, or somewhere, in Joshua’s service falling short of righteousness. Can you imagine arriving to work like that and your boss caring enough to not only re-clothe you but also elevate you to a greater position of authority?

Here are reasons why everyday we serve God, we should show up to work for God excited:

1. God is emotionally invested in your service and will fight to ensure you will not fail. Zechariah 3:2
2. God believes in you despite your shortcomings. Zechariah 3:4
3. God reassures, motivates and inspires you to take risks through His leadership. Zechariah 3:7
4. God’s leadership is transparent. God will continually share the purpose of His vision to those who
abide by His will and will seek Him. Zechariah 3:8

LEARN and APPLY: Zechariah 3 lets us know that when God wills it, the slate is wiped clean and we can begin a new and better life. This is the promise of the branch, Christ Jesus the Messiah.

Pray: Father, each day I work in Your vineyard, let me not fail you. I pray that all You are working to change inside me be reflected in my outward expression of You, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
