A Wall Of Fire

TEXT: “For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” Zechariah 2:5(KJV)

A wall of fire is one of God’s attributes. A wall protects us. God protects us from every form of external attack. How wonderful! The words ‘Wall’, ‘Fire’ and ‘Glory’ in today’s reading could not be substituted or omitted by various versions, or translation. He says, “I will be a wall of fire unto her”, referring to Jerusalem and we are the New Jerusalem – God’s City. A wall of fire keeps every foe at a distance.

It means with God we are safe. The only attack that will effectively get to us is one from within, when we break the connection with God. It is He who breaks the hedge that the serpent will strike (Eccl 10:8). This is a wonderful type of insurance, and the only premium required of us is a permanent connection to the vine, our source, abiding in him.

LEARN and APPLY: We cannot be covered without a permanent connection with the vine. Draw closer to God and settle matters with Him first.

Pray: Thank You Father, for this insurance; a wall of fire about me. Help me to remain in a permanent connection with You. In Jesus’ name Amen.
