Devotional: Where Lies Your Trust by @sholape1

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. (Psalm 28:7b NIV)

In today’s world where so much value is placed on material achievements, it is very easy to get caught up in the frenzy to meet societal expectations and show the world you too can also be a success.

As much as there is absolutely no wrong in being ambitious and doing well for oneself, Christians, in today’s fast-paced world, must understand that the route (however we get to our destination) is as equally important as the destination.

Our passage today tells of King David relying on, and confidently trusting, God for help. He was trusting God for every need for his journey as well as the destination. It is important for us too to identify who we run to for help; who we trust and rely on for our promotion, uplifting, breakthrough, miracle and all other kinds of achievements through our life’s journey.

Do we trust in our abilities, position, connections, intelligence, religious and political leaders or wealth?

Our trust should not be on anyone or any thing because if it is we will be disappointed. (Psalm 20:7; Psalm 146:3; Isaiah 31:1)

There is only One who knows how best to meet all our needs. Only One who can employ all things (created and made) for our promotion. He is God, and in Him alone should we trust for help! (Proverbs 3:5)

Prayer:

Faithful Father, I trust You for help; arise, direct my path to greatness and grant my desires in Jesus’ name.
