Dear Teacher… (James 3) #LAFruits

James 3:1 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.

This is a heavy statement. To whom much is given, much is expected. As a teacher/mentor, you are in an influential position. People are looking up to you and learning from you.

Does your conduct correlate with your teachings? Do you wear the teacher’s hat when you get to the entrance of the Church and take it off upon your exit? Be careful. God has entrusted people to your care.

Ask God to give you the Grace to lead the people aright! The role of a teacher is a huge responsibility. Don’t take it lightly!

Practical steps:

First of all, it is not by power or might…rely on the Holy Spirit.

Secondly – Don’t teach the people using human knowledge/wisdom; teach them the Word of God. The wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight (1 Corinthians 3:19)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Finally, Fear NOT. God who has called you will EQUIP you and strengthen you!

Hebrews 13:21 – may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
