READ #LAProverbs Devotional Day 31 ‘The Proverbs 31 Man’

Her husband is ‘respected’ at the city gate, where he takes his seat among ‘the elders’ of the land. Proverbs 31:23

Proverbs 31 says a lot about the virtuous woman, and thankfully doesn’t leave the men out. The proverbs 31 man is a great man and, according to verse 23, first, he is respected by all; next, his greatness is shown in that his seat is among the elders of the land.

This man is respected because he fears the lord (the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom), and this wisdom makes him diligent, responsible, strong, faithful, loving, etc. Also, the Proverbs 31 man chooses his wife wisely: he marries the Proverbs 31 woman.

The Proverbs 31 man is a true leader of his home, following Jesus’ example of humility. Jesus Christ in John 13 washed his disciples’ feet which showed the extent of his love for them. He got up, took off his outer garment (made himself less dignified) before washing their feet.

If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

The Proverbs 31 man thus does those undignified things, and earns the respect and lasting commitment of his wife. We can all agree that it is easier for a woman to be submissive and respectful of such a man.

The eventual outcome of such a lifestyle is greatness. He will take a seat amongst the elders of the land and he would always be ahead of his peers.

Seest thou a man diligent in his ways, he will stand before kings, not mean men. Proverbs 22:29
