READ #LAActs Devotional Day 5 ‘ Standing Firm Under Pressure’

image

The Apostles were severely persecuted by the “Religious” leaders. They were threatened, beaten and thrown from one prison to the other. They encountered opposition everywhere.

While you may not be experiencing the same type of physical persecution the Apostles faced, you may be facing persecution in other ways: Lack of friends in school because you refuse to partake in exam malpractice. Getting the ‘cold shoulder’ treatment from workmates because you are not doing what they do. Or perhaps persecution in the marketplace because you openly live a godly life.

One of the keys to standing firm under pressure is prayer. The Apostles prayed in Acts 4:29,  ‘Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word.’ No wonder they were able to boldly face the council and say ‘We ought to obey God rather than men.’

Are you at your wits end? Are you feeling discouraged? Are you about to cave in to the ungodly demands of your persecutors? Arise today as a soldier in the Lord’s Army. Ask He who is stronger than the strongest to strengthen you and grant you boldness to stand firm no matter what.

Remember! You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

Prayer Focus:
Father, Thank You for showing me through Your Word that is it possible to stand firm under pressure. I ask that You grant me boldness and strength to stand firm under pressure. I will not compromise in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
